It does everything its supposed to, its small and sleek, and yes the remote does have a subtitle button. I have a higher priced dvd player that wouldn't play recordable or rewritable discs, but this Curtis player plays every disc I put in. The picture is clear and the sound is great, thinking about purchasing another for my living room. I would recommend this player to anybody on a budget and looking to play burned discs as well. The DVD player does everything its supposed to. It plays videos clearly, (both sound and picture are excellent) and has a sleek and clean look to it. I have had no problems with using the remote control. It does the job well and for this price, it is a very good deal.
